Dailt woman farmers

A woman from Gharchon village in Sangrur district of Punjab state said, "We never thought that we would have our own farmland to cultivate." Me and one of my sister protesters Harbansh Kaur Badrunhan used to be at the forefront of the protests. many times, lathicharge was also done on him other people asked us to go asked because we were the leaders. These are Charanjit Kaur and Raj Kaur, residents of Gharchon village in Sangrur district of Punjab state. These two women have struggled for a long time to cultivate the reserve land of the village.

The woman is a farm laborer who works in the village's forty-eight acres of reserve land. In 1961, the Punjab government passed a law called the Punjab village common regulation act. Through which thirty-three percent of the Panchayat land of each village will be given to the members of the Scheduled Tribes through public auction. These are the lands which come under Gram Panchayat. These agricultural workers of Gharachun village have become wheat crop. This is his eighth crop. After which his happiness knew no bounds. They took great pride in their work.

These agricultural laborers also have their own tractor for farming. According to Charanjit, he had to struggle a lot to get agricultural land. He says that many cases have been filed in his name. He was also beaten up during the protest. There are also Land Acquisition Struggle Committees and Land Acquisition Struggle Committees in the state. Charanjit Kaur, an agricultural laborer and member of the land acquisition struggle committee, said that he joined the protests in 2016. They have struggled a lot. Three-four women always raised their voices in this protest. Due to which the police beat us and detained us in jail many times. A false case was filed against us.

They say that this struggle has changed the lives of many women like us. Before this strike, we worked as laborers on other people's farms. Many times we were not even allowed to collect fodder. Now we have our own farm and we are collecting fodder at will. They never thought that this would happen to us. Because of his hard work and God's blessings, they have achieved something. Here they get lease to cultivate the farm land and here they collect ten thousand annually. They cultivate wheat on that land and divide equally between them. Forage is almost free at that location. Raj Kaur says that in 2018, he struggled to get land in the Panchayat for the first time. It was the first time that he got ten acres of land. And then other agricultural laborers join him so that the rest of the land can be acquired. Even now, his struggle continues. By which he can lease nine acres of land. In 2018, sixteen people got land leases and eight years later, about fifty people got papers. By which they feel very proud.
